How to Live Forever

By Brian Robinson.

The answer lies in a book?

A friend suggested I read a book. It came highly recommended. ‘How Not to Die’ by Dr Michael Greger.

I didn’t like the bookseller’s attitude though. “You don’t want to read that book,” he said. “This is the book you want to read.” His growling voice came across as a command rather than a suggestion. Nonetheless…

Growling or smiling. It’s difficult to say.

The book was entitled ‘How to Live Forever’, but he omitted to give any further information as to who wrote it or when it was published.

“You’ll have to connect with it though,” he warned. “Don’t just read the words. Soak them up. Breathe them in. Open up your soul to them.”

“It would be nice to think we could all live forever,” I said as I accepted the book.

“That depends,” he warned. “Be careful what you wish for. But if you really do want to live forever, you’ll have to go back to the beginning of evolution and try and turn things around.” His grim features morphed into a wry smile.

“Not a big ask then,” I said with a sprinkling of irony.

He grinned again.

Expectancy.

When I started to read the book later at home I found all the pages were blank. I had been had. This was his idea of a joke. Then I decided to look again and go through each page carefully. Somewhere in the middle of the book I found a single word written in capitals. The word said ‘LOVE’.

Now I know what he meant by going back to the beginning of EVOLUTION and turning things around.

Love: not a word but a force.

  1. Wow
    I have never heard that
    revelational idea before.

LOVE: the secret to living forever.

Isn’t that how life is, hiding the
    most valuable things into what
seem to be simple and mundane?!
