The Hole

By Brian Robinson.

A Worm Hole.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

“I’ve always been fascinated by holes; but I struggled to understand why?”

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.”

“When I was a child I would watch men working down them, repairing pipes, making connections.”

“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

“During the war I spent much of my time holed up in one place or another. That’s when I finally realised the attraction. Holes can be safe places.”

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

“The rest of my life was much the same. I was never really comfortable above ground after that.”

“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”

“This must be the neatest, cosiest hole I’ve ever been down.”

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”

“I think I’ll rest here for a while.”

A Blessed Black Hole.
